Natural oils: the ancient secret of great skincare

Posted on

I enjoy making these skincare elixirs as much as I relish smoothing them over my skin and catching the subtle scent of essential oils emanating in the air while I do so.

A few years ago, as I learned more about the chemical cocktails that make up about 95 of our skincare and cosmetic products and their effect on our health, I decided to go back to the basics and move away, as much as possible, from everything that doesn’t have 100% natural-based ingredients. From the food I eat to the products I put on my skin, I strive to nurture my body with items that remain their natural, unaltered state. Fresh from the fields, as it were, or distilled with the simple and pure methods used thousands of years ago. This is my compass today and I try to follow its clear direction through a holistic lifestyle whose benefits reach way further than skin-deep.

Just reading about the countless internal and external benefits of oils such as castor, argan, coconut, avocado, grapeseed, etc. is enough to convert any skeptic.

Once I determined how easy it is to have direct access to the wealth of beneficial effects derived from these oils, incorporating them in my skincare routines was the next step. I didn’t anticipate just how rewarding this process would be. When I put them together I feel like an alchemist concocting the magic potion aptly titled the fountain of youth. The results (noticeably great skin, hair and nails) are almost immediate but using these oils for only a few weeks will be the absolute proof of their efficacy.

I create different combinations depending on the purpose. Whether I want to have a recipe for massage oil,  moisturizer, face or hair oil, etc. I use them every day and each time I feel the smooth touch of the skin I experience the satisfaction and certainty that I’m doing something wonderful for me.
